Advice on Price to put on IHC Garand
I plan to put my IHC Garand for sale on the WTS Shopper. I know not how to do pics so will describe the rifle. I seek the advice on price from those more knowledgeable than I who have helped me in the past on the former Shooting Page.
The receiver is IHC SN 4450XXX with the postage stamp type of heel logo (most common of the IHCs), barrel is LMR 4/53, receiver leg is electro-stenciled 9-65, hammer is SA, rear peepsight shaft is stamped NM, I was told stock is International wood but I think it is SA.
Although stock has that "indentation" on the right side of the receiver heel, two things makes me doubt it is IHC: 1. the area of the pistol grip and comb is not as steep as the pic in Scott Duff's book but more akin to the gradual sloop of an SA stock. 2. the numbers 9547 is stamped in the stock barrel channel (I don't think IHC made Garands in 1957, 7 being accepted as the year of manufacture).
The stock is in very good condition, appears dark speckled, mottled, near-tigerstripped (my description) but is attractive in my opinion.
Muzzle wear is a hair more than 2.5 on my .30 gauge.
I rate it on par with CMP service grade rifles. I have never seen an IHC SG priced on CMP so have no idea what a fair price would be. The finish on the metal look to be at least 70% in my opinion. Bore is shiny with strong lands and grooves. Thanks for your help in this matter.

If it were my rifle I would put it on GunBroker.com and start the bidding at $ 1000.00. You can never tell what it might sell for. Let the current market dictate the price. If I were to list it on a WTS, either here or CMP, I would ask about $ 1200.00 and have a bit of flexibility. That is just my opinion, get some others.

+1 on what Joe said. I paid $850 for an Arrowhead RRAD three years ago.

If it is as you say, a "service-grade" rebuild with 70 percent finish on the metal and some SA parts and wood, then it doesn't have much of anything going for it aside from the fact that it's a Harvester with an LMR barrel. That does give it a premium of around 100-200 dollars depending on the throat erosion of the barrel.
On the WTS shopper it will probably generate hits if priced in the 700-800+ range, especially if the barrel throat is 3 or less, the wood looks nice, and if you post pics.... If you want more than that, you should probably take the advice to put it on an auction site with a minimum bid.

I would advise having some pictures taken even if you can't do it yourself. The days of selling without pictures are over, or at least the price will be lowered substantially. If you can post on the forum you can upload pictures directly from your computer. Just scroll down to the "Manage Attachments" button.

If it is all correct and never refinished I would think it is worth about $ 1200.- $ 1300.00. The correct stock would add about $ 350.00 + or -, depending on condition, to that price. That is what I think it is "WORTH". What would it bring on an auction site ??. Hard to guess, but judging from recent auctions it may bring alot more. Take a look at what IHCs are selling for on GunBroker and AuctionArms. As others have said, take alot of good pictures and describe fully, warts and all if you decide on auction.
As far as parting it out, I hope you don't as you will destroy any originallity that may be left in the rifle. That said, it is yours to do as you see fit.
