Bill, that's a short channel stock. Notice that the channel is just under 2 inches and a long channel will be about 2 3/8 inches.

John it is a long channel. The measurement is supposed to be taken from the very end of the stock at the ferrule cut. The person who took the pictures put the tape at the end of the stock before the ferrule cut. Here is a short channel measured the same way for comparison.

short channel stock
Most do not measure the ferrule or front area when checking for a long or short channel stock.
Measurements on the following stocks without the front ferrule area
SA GAW 1 5/8 inches
late SA GHS 1 7/16 inches
WRA WB 2 inches
SA SPG 2 inches
factory SA SHM 1 1/2 inches

Your original photos are gone now, but from what I recall seeing, it is a short channel. I just measured my long channel GHS and it's almost 2 1/2 inches from the front edge of the ferrule and about 2 inches from the back edge.

I don't know what happened to my photos! I'm looking into this.

Okay, the top one measures 2" from the end of the stock less the ferrule cut. The known STD short channel measures 1-1/2" from the same points. My original GHS, large Ord wheel stock measures 2" from the same points. So doesn't that make it a long channel? I don't know! When it shows up I'll know for sure.

Bill, your photos are back and from what I can see, it looks like the channel is under 2 inches in length with the end of the tape slightly in front of the back edge of the ferrule cut. Unless i'm misreading something, I believe it is a short channel.

I believe there were other lengths...I have an early GHS, scalloped clip latch cut, both buttplate screw holes are small, and the channel is shorter than typical short channel stocks..its with an 8-41 SA.
