Holy cow! Buck Rogers would LOVE that gun!
It's sure coming along nicely and the method of clamping the barel to the forestock should ensure any flex in the thumb-cut mauser receiver will be nullified.
Let us know how she shoots!

Thanks, I just had to try it. At first I was going to hang a 10 or 20 shot mag on it but, then figured I'd be better off going single so I could keep the rear end truly suspended. I've had great results with that barrel/action combinations in the past, I'm hoping this one prints out nicely-SDH

I assume what you are making is going to be able to handle .308 win commercial loads... I have some I wont put through the FALs- Ill trade for a box of 54R.
Perhaps you should tell the lads what type of scope you will be mounting to your creation. I sure would like to know...

Oh and you know what, those set screws for the AR code K98K are wrong. More specifically all the screws are wrong. The one behind the trigger is fine but the other 3 are not for a k98k

Lots of 7.62 conversions have been done on vintage Mausers, the Isrealis did thousands of them, for example. As did Parker Hale.
I'd keep the loads reasonable though as the older receivers are more prone to lug setback than some of the newer rifles.

yea but a Mauser action is built to handle pressure of an 8x57mm cartridge. 308 shouldnt be more than that- its only 7x51~
