I am going to say real also. It looks like the inner part of the band is reccessed back a little and most fakes are flush. If you remove the screw see if after doing so the band has a spring to it with the screw removed or not. An original should have a spring action to it when compressed. Hope this makes sense to you. The one hash mark as mentioned is a good sign as stated. I have a IBM that has two slash marks. I am unsure who used a single hash mark one.

It is on a 4.58 Rock-ola. A little early but no way would I remove it.

I own a rock ola 4.58!!! I'm restoring it and was going to buy a barrel band type Ia to change the one in the pictures.
Now I'm sure I'll keep it.

The double slash bands were also used on later Inlands.

Could you post some photos of your rear sight (both sides of it.) and your front sight too. It may not be fake and the front sight is most likely a real one but just may be for a differnt make of carbine.
