Help to identify W.W. II Vet bring home
Hi I need help to identify a German pump action, octagon barreled, possibly .22 . With a magazine fed from below. Looks alot like a Winchester 1890 .But I dont think the Winchester was clip fed. i will try to post pictures later. Also I understand this is a long shot.

Is there a manufacturer name or date? Are there any other identifyable markings?

Yep
Are you sure it's even German? Germans were never big on pumps. Most of their repeater .22's were either bolt actions or semi-automatics made by Walther and Mauser.

Sorry guys I do not have permission to add pictures at this time. I am not sure if it is German . The owner says a relative brought it back after W.W.II . And called it a German trench gun ?

Why not post pics and blurr out the serial number if your friend is paranoid?

There are proof marks visible on the right side of the frame and barrel. Closeups would help. Might or might not tell where the rifle was made, but would tell where it was tested and perhaps sold.
Savage made a .22 pump rifle with a box magazine, although I do not know that this is one of them.
