Really green 1943 Maltby.
Found an all matching 1943 Maltby No4 today. It has apparently seen some Indian service, as it sports the 'Ishy' screw, and at one time all the metal was covered in an almost pea green (as opposed to khaki) paint. A lot of which is still on it. Non import marked, slotted upper hand guard. It really is a rifle with character. I am curious about a marking on it however. To the left of the 'No4 Mk1' is a smallish, well, crescent moon(?) with a smaller crescent moon(?) over what may or not be an 18. But these are almost certainly crescent moons. Does this sound familiar to anyone? I'll have some pics up this weekend as soon as I get a new monitor.
Technology and me just don't mix.............

Probably partial circles. Inspectors' marks.
