Colt 1911-A1 1,734,000 C in Square Barrel?
Is this possible to be correct? Gun is 98% Parko-Lubrite finish, obviously original and the barrel is in matching condition and wear to the gun. Barrel is P proofed and C in square marked as are the later 1945 guns. Could this be original to the gun? Is there a data base for the high and low serials of C in square barrels?

Yes, I have one just slightly earlier with the Square/C barrel. Mine also has a D ahead of the lug, which Clawson indicates didn't show up on the Square/C barrel until the 2.34 million range, but is shown on a COLT .45 AUTO barrel in the 1.71 million range.
Clawson lists 2252080 as the first in his survey with the Square/C barrel, but the Colt serial numbers jump from 1743846 to 2244804. This could put production of your pistol less than two weeks from production of the first pistol Clawson shows.
