FYI: WalMart Ammo
I was in one of our local stores today in sporting goods checking for 45 auto & shelves were nearly bear, plenty of rifle but only a few boxes of 44 mag. Got to talking to the lady behind the counter & she informed me that she heard that all ammo was going up by 5 cents per round. She couldnt completely confirm it but that was what she heard. Thats not much of an increase but still adds 2.50 to pistol & 1.00 to rifle. Might only be a rumor but still not good news!

I question the clerk's information about the increase; retailers only think of price increases in terms of "units".
But, a friend who shops late at night told me his Walmart gets their ammo delivered late at night; they put it on the shelves around 11:00 pm, & it is generally gone by midnight.

Has anyone noticed the price increase on rimfire ammo lately? Some areas are now paying $30 for a 500 round 'brick'.
Local dealers claim they can no longer order amounts from the major manufacturers. They get whatever shows up and pay the tab which has nearly tripled in recent months.
Thank you hoarders. Enjoy your plinking stockpiles while you can. As soon as that is gone, you'll be paying like the rest of us.

Just FWIW, in some areas, Walmart stores are "voluntarily cooperating" with the police to require and record the names and addresses of ammunition purchasers. Exactly how the "voluntary cooperation" was obtained, I don't know.

It could be something seemingly innocuous as a release of liability form, or even asking for name and zip info recorded in the sales ledger.
Then again, who knows what info can be gleaned nowadays with a standard ID check to prove legal age or residency?
All speculation on my part of course.

It has to something about what part of the country you are from because up here in RI we have all the ammo you want. One local shop has it piled up on the floor waist deep,in all calibers. That goes for powder and primers too.
We usually just shop at gunshops as we have quite a few for a small state.Nobody I know would even think of buying ammo at Wally world. It'a just not a store that sportsman shop in, in New England.I noticed when I go down south people seem to like the store,up here it is mostly a minority junk store.

If the Feds, or your state, jack up the tax, would you know?
I do not know whether we would be informed of a tax increase, whether it's one cent per round or ten cents.
All we might know is, the price is now higher.
Excise taxes by the Fed are imposed at the manufacturer level and do not show up on the sales slip. The only thing we're informed of is the state sales tax.
I hope the NRA - or anybody - is keeping a close eye on it.
