Stove piping
I was out shooting with a friend and his 1911 would stove pipe or fail to completely eject an empty case on every 2nd or third shot. It did it with different ammo and reloads. My ballester-regaud had no problemswith the same ammo. Is there anything he can check before taking it in to a gunsmith?
I think his pistol is of 1918 vintage.
Thanks.

remove the plastic or rubber bushing in the slide spring, and try it again,
the slides not comming back far enough to eject the case all the way..
most common issue is an after market {bumper} remove it..toss it in the trash.
if thats not the issue, might be a heavy spring,, replace it with a factory 15 to 17 pound spring.
try another magazine as well, flat top followers work well, avoid aftermarket makes..
