Some more additions to the collection the 25Pdr solid is missing the drive band a common thing post WWII as there was a world wide shortage of the stuff after the event so allot were cut off remelted into more productive stuff.
I will give it the once over paint it up in the usual semi flat black but before I put the etching on I will look for any marks.
The piece of paper came out of what I gather is the tracer tube in the base of the projectile I gather some one may have desired to see if it still had the stuff in there anyway its damned heavy will sit alongside the 25Pdr case & smoke projie I have.
The 12 Ga packets I just decided to add a few more cost more in postage than what they totaled all together.
I like the Holland & Holland one I have a green Rigby one which is quite nice also have an early Canuck one with the cartridge on the left side with the name above it.
No particular reason for getting them just thought I would increase the meager collection I have of the packets.
I am onto a couple of cases which I really want and will be a grand addition to my heavy stuff its not an 88mm but will see how it goes.......
303 cartridge for scale

The 25 pdr has lay out a long time, was recovered and probably done by someone out looking for exactly that, copper. Then sell the projectiles for a few bucks after... Maybe you can fill the drive band with a paintable putty...since you have in mind to paint it after. You could form it and shape it, paint and no one would tell...

What about trying to replace the driving band with a suitable length and width of copper bar. Silver solder the join and roll the edges into place as per the factory.

We have a machinist business in the town who did my 4" projectiles driving band it looks good as thats what they did a flat folded and glued into place just keep the small joint line to the rear but yes Peter I was thinking of going that way Jims idea I had toyed with as well but if you could see how my wall plastering skills are (We are painting our internal walls) then trying to do a driving band may look like a dogs breakfast.
Thanks for the input fellers.

That's a phrase I haven't heard since I was in Australia and NZ, calling blokes 'fellas.....'. Takes me back. Told my son the other day, that if he was feeling crook, then to take a rest for an hour or so. He didn't know what 'crook' was......

Your going to have to educate your son on our lingo from down under Peter I am sure your time spent here as a "Pommy" you would have had the pi$$ taken a few times till you wised up and learned the game so to speak.
He probably thought you were calling him a bad guy instead of him feeling bad.........
