    Receiver drawing number consisten with Serial Number

    Is D 28291-3 SA consistent with serial number range 250,000-260,00? Don't want
    to purchase a re-weld. Thanks for any help.

    -3 SA is a correct revision# for a receiver in the 250,000 to 260,000 serial number ranges.
    heat/steel lots range from 'REP 9" thru"REP 12",and "J 8" series using the "A","D" and "C" suffix.

    revision numbers

    somewhere between 18,000 and 19,000 the revsion 1 started, do not have it but it must be late 18,000. Photo shows an early receiver before the revision number (rebuild with spline type barrel (gas port) with prewar date)

    SPRINGFIELD Drawing # and Serial info...

    I saw the post here and figured I'd try to find out about my old springfield.
    My Receiver Drawing Number is: D28291 32 & above that is stamped: 0 6 2 C triangle FF
    My Receiver Serial Number is: 2506247.
    I know it has a new old stock barrel SA dated 2-55, and a new Boyd Walnut Stock. The other numbers I can see without more than a field strip are as fallows;
    Bolt: D28287-1 W.R.A.
    Trigger Housing: D28290-14-SA
    Hammer: C46008-9 SA
    Safety: C46015-9 SA
    I guess my question is what do I really have here & do the Receiver numbers look like they should? Apart from the non SA Bolt, it looks good, but after reading about the welded receivers on the internet, I wanted to ask. Thanks...

    Could be an Army or M.C. rifle overhauled in the late 1950's. The stock was changed by a former owner. As long as the bolt headspaces, and I would bet it does, it should be a fine shooter. Enjoy
