Sten Magazine Gauge Markings

Just got a NOS Sten mag gauge from Marstar in Canada. It has the following markings lightly engraved:

GO. GAPS
FOR LIPS OF MAGAZINE
D D (E) 3543/3

<Logo circle> PG LTD

HEIGHT & ANGLE
OF ROUND
230 7° 35'

The "230" may actually be "-230." Have no idea what this represents.

The 7° 35' angle seems awfully precise for equipment manufactured by perhaps dozens of companies around the world!

The cartridge angle is obvious, but can anybody translate the rest, and tell me the manufacture date?

Go = that part of the gauge must pass into the magazine lips
DD(E) is the Enfiueld design office drawing number
PG gauge = Precision Gauge (PG part) and Tool Ltd
Height and angle = presentation angle of the round to enter the chamber directly. We always said it must be 8 degrees but......
and .230 = the height of the centre line of the base rim diameter

I really got a laugh from the 7° 35' specification. Suspect it was achieved . . . once, at Enfield!

To be honest, that was probably a gauge used at a factory or Base Workshops only. Our gauge was a simple plate gauge that we made as apprentices. That's why on the Sterling L2 guns, the round was presented SQUARE but the magazine was angled forwards at 8 degrees or so
