1908 No. 1 MK III
Hello all,
I am a new collector of the Lee-Enfield rifle and have to say I like them. I have now a No. 1 MK III that is dated 1908. I would like to mount a scope to the rifle but I am not sure on what it would require to do so I do know that there were a few different models that were used in that time such as the Aldis, P.P. Co., Winchester, and the Patt. 1918 which was used in Australia. My question is how I can mount the scope and which one should be used, any info or advice you can give will be great!!! I can get you pics if you need!!!
Thanks to all!
Nick

Nick,
If your rifle is in full military condition, please don't do anything permanent to it like drilling holes for mounts. There are lots of sportered or previously modified SMLE's out there to scope up.
Pictures would be appreciated.

If you want to mount a scope I recommend that you A) find a scope mount that just replaces the rear sight or B) find a rifle that has already been modified for scope use. If you are looking to recreate a sniper rifle of the ear you would be better served finding a rifle that is already configured as a sniper rifle as the original scope and mounts will be hard to come by.
