info on what i have?
today i bought a m1 carbine and i would like to know any info about the rifle, right behind the front sight it is stamped underwood 8-44, the left side of the wood is stamped "ria eb" inside the stock where the slind goes it is stamped "trimbl tn" the rear sight is stamped "i.r. co." anything else that will help? it is in good condition,

You need to look behind the rear sight for who made it and the serial number. The RIA on the stock means it went through a rebuild at Rock Island Armory. The Trimble in the sling well is for the company that made the stock during the WW2 period. Your Underwood barrel is a replacement changed during the rebuild. Underwood stopped making carbines in April 1944 but continued making barrels as replacements. hth
