Spielberger could make a whole movie on Okinawa. Iwo gets all the ink, but Oki was a saga.

One thing I felt was need was some narration to full in missing information
One point the never got conveyed to the public was the time line of Guadalcanal Canal and how grave the situation was

I have a Garrison flag that flew on Okinawa. My father was stationed there in the Corp and liberated it.
