Out of the Clouds - The History of the 1st Canadianicon Parachute Battalion
By John A. Willes Pub. 1981 second printing 1984 251 pgs.

This book goes into detail the training, combat jumps, their being used as infantry + the capture of Wismar ahead of the Russians preventing them from moving into Denmarkicon + Norwayicon. There's a couple of pages on V.C. Cpl.Fred Topham actions that won him his Victoria Cross.During their occupation in Wismar they talk of the mass surrender of Germans in front of advancing Russians + the stack of surrendered weapons being piled 10 feet high + 25 ft. long, their first contact with the Russians + drinks to the high tentions when the allies wouldn't withdraw + let Russians advance so the russians brought tanks to the outskirts of the town.

There's 50++ pages of B&W photo's + maps,a list of awards, pow + casualty list + a roll of officer's + other ranks that served in the battalion. The book is a great read + I was surprised to find out how much action they saw.
