Hello my fellow collectors My name is Paul and I am a collector, a retired soldier, and a Nam vet who saw the Mosin in Vietnam in 1965/66. For the most part the NVA used the AK47, but they also used the Mosin..The Vietcong used anything they could get their hands on.At the time I along withmy brother Cav were interested in the AK47,but every time I found one it was confiscated. So now 41 years later have my war souvenir, a mosin Nagant carbine. Handles nice fires smooth

Very interesting!! Thanks for posting. Within the next couple or three years I will likely be moving in to the house I was raised in. It has an 8 x 24 (approx) concrete cistern that will become my gun room. I may be able to put these racks to use for my 125+ long gun collection.

Paul, we'd love to see pics of your trophy! Do you have capture papers? Why did you choose the Mosin over an SKS, as back then, SKS' were really rare in the US.

Thinking about another Mosin. In Jan 09 I will buy my next C&R As of right now I own the M38 Carbine and I'll tell you she handles just great. But I am thinking of either The Mosin 1891 or the M39 Finnish Mosin.I have a Steyr 95 straight pull I may get rid of that because of the Ammo problem (8x56R is a little tough to find 7.62 54R is relatively common I was considering the Spanish Mauser (San Juan Hill 1898) but that is 7mm and again hard to find. The only other rifle still under consideration is the BritishMK3

Hey I am hoping some one will be able to help me with my nagant. Its a Izhevsk 1900 M1891, and I have never had a problem outside an occasional sticky bolt, however I have an empty Czech silver tip shell that just wont come out. I cant open the bolt and its jammed tight. I have tried to muscle it open but with no success. Is there a trick to unjamming a nagant?

I have an Hungarian M44 carbine whose bolt would not open after firing one of the same Czech silver tip rounds. No matter what I tried that bolt would not budge. I finally resorted to whacking it open with a short 2x4 - it opened. The bolt was fine but the 2x4 was damaged.
