Winchester Model 1890 rifle
I have seen a lot of Winchester 1890 pump action rifles but this is the only deluxe model
that I found. Many years ago my wife found this rifle in a garage and saved it for me. The serial number is from 1900 and chambered for the 22 WRF. Some surface rust and the bore was not bad either. I had to replace the take-down screw which was broken off.
I happen to catch some sunlight on the stock at the right time and took some photos of the deluxe wood that Winchester used on this rifleAttachment 89603Attachment 89604Attachment 89605Attachment 89606Attachment 89607

Nice, a few extras there...I had a third year takedown '94 rifle loaded with extras once. It hadn't been cared for and used every day of it's life. The wood resembled yours, this gun looks far better though. Nice catch... I guess you've found ammo? They apparently make a run of this scarce cartridge occasionally...

Very nice rifle. You may want to request a letter from the Cody Museum on your rifle. I see a lot of special order options on your rifle. You may be able to find who the original owner who ordered the rifle. I was given a later Winchester Model 1906 variation in .22 Short which required a complete rebuild. Great little guns for a young boy to enjoy.

Great piece! I have a special place in my heart for the Winchester pumps of which I have several, never been fortunate enough to find a deluxe though. Great Save, beautiful XXX wood. I am still kicking myself for not buying a case colored 1890 in Calgary 2 years ago.

You'll be disappointed in the new ammo. Sounds about like a 22 Short when it goes off. I guess they thought it would be fired in some pretty old rifles and "down-loaded" it. I'm speaking of the new Winchester ammo and have no experience with any other brand.
