What does SSAA mean on the stock?
I am a new comer to the sight and to the 1917 Eddystone, but I have aquirered a 1917 and by reading everyones past postings on markings I can tell a little about the rifle. But on the stock I have a P inside a square and SSAA stapmed on it. What are thoughs stamps? Also on the rifle everything is staped with an E except for the cocking peice it has a W (I'm assuming winchester), does this mean that it was reman? If it was remaned does that take way from the rifle? Thank you for your feed back.

I saw what the square P was but the other stamp is an unmistakable SSAA. As soon as I can get some pictures posted I will. Was I correct about the W on the cockpiece? And does that effect the value or history of the weapon?

Well if everything else on the rifle you can find is marked E and only the cocking piece is marked W then no, most likely that's not a rebuild. Most likely replaced by a unit armorer or someone as a very small spot repair.
Just because it has a depot/rebuilt facility stamp doesn't mean its rebuilt, if it goes and its in good shape it just gets the stock stamp and put back into WRM stock.
