"Sporter" question
I have a Remington '03 that was sporterized back in the late 60's. I'd like to use the gun as a deer rifle for one of my sons. My question is how do I modify the bolt handle to accomodate a scope and is there an aftermarket safety to replace the original flip over type? TIA.

watch GB, and AA, for a sporter bolt, Canjar made a trigger with a side safety like the Remington 700, but its going to be pricey, if you can find one,
other then that , a Bueler or other aftermarket scope safety will work fine.

Gunparts has both complete and stripped bolts modified for scopes.
Springfield 1903 / 1903A3 Bent Bolt Assembly*|*e-GunParts.com
They also have Timmney Triggers with or without the side safety.

I have a Canjar (set) trigger I will sell, brand new, never installed, for what I have in it. It is the best trigger ever made - period. If you are interested, just email me. It can be used as a regular trigger or it has an internal set feature that allows it to be used as a set trigger.

Chuck,
This is the Canjar that has the "set" in the center of the main trigger. A little "set" trip switch spliced into the center of the trigger. Know which one I am talking about? It is the top of the line Canjar.

yup, i have several mounted on a few of my personal rifles, from my 700PSS to sporterize 03,s.
they are a bear to set up, but once you get them fitted, and set.
they work awesome, and never change.
