First, a most interesting book that puts conflicts around the world into perpseective with each other.
The Book is "The Timechart Of Military History."
ISBN 1-55267-268-9.
The time chart covers the period from 300 BC to the present. It has several sections, inculding a brief historical overview which is then followed by the Timechart itself. There are also sections on great commanders, and a listing of naval battles.
There is also a chronology of battles of the period covered, selected battle maps and selected wars in close-up.
This is a most fascinating book and is well worth a look. You might even win a bet or to with it!
The other book is similiar but is concentrated on World War II. It is called "The Chronological Atlas Of World War II."
ISBN 0-88619-262-5.
The book deals withWW2 month-by-month. It shows what happens each month in some detail.
For example, in February 1942, there was the channel dash of Scharnhorst and Gneisenau; The Afrika Korp advanved; Singapore fell; The allied army retreated across the Sittang Bridge to Burma and there was diaster in the Java Sea. The only bright points for the allies were that Americans bolding on the Bataan Peninsula; Stalemate continued on the Russian front and the Bruneval Raid took place. The Allied bombing raid's on Germany continued.
