    New Carcano Moshetto Carbine

Just picked up a "new" 1942 Brescia carbine. Looks like it has a Terni stock on it (oval cartouche with R. E. in the middle and Terni at the bottom) filled with shellac so hard to read. Guessing it is just a run of the mill carbine, but it is my first Italianicon rifle, so thought I would run it by the forum. I got in a bit late on these as I pretty much ran out of space to put rifles, but they are pretty cheap so got one from J&G Sales. Bluing is pretty near 100%, maybe 95%, so probably an arsenal refinish. The receiver had quite a bit of shellac on it, too, so I lost some of the bluing in removing it as I thought it was rust, at first. Stock appears to be beech and has quite a few dings, etc. The stock has a heavy layer of shellac on it, done while the rifle was in the stock as there was quite a bit of shellac on the metal, too. There was some very minor rust under the stock and some white mold in the inside of the stock. The "good to very good" description by J&G was pretty spot on.

I no longer have a photobucket account or anyplace else to link a URL to for some images...

    Added attachement images

I attached some images. The bore has good rifling and is shiny, but a new 6.5 bore brush is in the mail so I haven't been able to clean it and don't know how good the lands are. Quite a bit of pitting on the receiver, but nowhere else. Stock and barrel serial numbers match.

I love the Carcano rifle. Do you have any pictures of the whole rifle. Hopefully you can find ammo for it. Do you have any enbloc clips for it yet?
