    Jan, 1945 Garand Advice

I have an opportunity to purchase a WWII M1icon Garand. Barrel date is 1-45. The left side of the stock has SA over GHD in a box. The gas plug at is the + slotted verses the - slotted type. The op rod has the cut made into it.

    Price tag reads $1500.

How original is it? Is it worth the price? MW is 2.5.

    Thanks

    Thomas

Not enough info. Pics would be nice, but pics can deceive.

The op rod cut is not correct. Should be -9 Flat side, uncut

What is the date on the barrel?

IF "Correct", price is probably not out of line. But "Correct" CMPs go for under $900.00...

Nobody here will use the word "original", cuz those animals don't exist unless they have build papers from the factory...

OK, definitly a lot more info needed. In addition to above, What are the drawing numbers of the: Op rod (and is it flat side or curved side) trigger group, bolt, hammer, and safety to start. Is it original finish (is the chamber bare metal or parked) are there any rebuild marks on the receiver or stock? are ther any import marks on the barrel? Does it have lock bar sights? What is the throat errosion (TE)? Are you sure the stock has a SA/GHD and not a GAW or GHS? If is really says SA/GHD it is wrong, very wrong... Its alot of $$$ to take a chance on a late war gun...jmho
