1903 kit SARCO
I need to return a sporterized 03 back to as issued config.
SARCO INC. item :
1903 Kit - all parts except stock, receiver & barrel assy (w/sight
bases) Bolts, bands, stamped trigger guard, swivels, and a new
handguard, trigger, etc. - New 1903 GI barrel assy (with sight bases)
available with purchase of M1903 kit... $142.50 $137.50
Has anyone here ordered this ? The punctuation indicates that the parts listed are NOT included. What does this kit include ?
If the comma after the word "stock" is meant to be a period, then the list is what you get with the kit, a complete barreled receiver minus stock, sights, and buttplate.
If you have experience with this kit, please respond.
Thanks,

Havent ordered it,but my take on the ad is you dont get a stock,or reciever,or barrel,or the rear sight base. The price is too cheap to get these items included. It also says stamped trigger guard. The 03a3 came with this guard the 03 had a milled guard which costs a lot more.Sarco gets a number of 03 parts made in China which is why the stamped trigger guard, easy to make cheap.Bill Ricca on his site had pictures of the chinese made guards vs the real thing at one time. They arent quite as well done. They also reproduced the upper band/bayonet lug so theres a good chance the kit has that in it too.If you check Gun Parts Corp they have some repo parts like the upper band ,but at least they tell you they arent original.

SCRAPCO has piles of Chinese parts, watch out!. Try Bill Ricca for the same deal. He only sells USGI stuff. The few Repro parts he has are well described.

Sorry, a little tough love here: There's is no way you can possibly do this project. "As issued"? No way. If you had said, "I want to put on all USGI parts, but understand it will be an obvious Mixed Part Mongrel", then you might be able to do it, although it won't be worth as much as the sum of the parts. You might even be able to put together something that looks like an arsenal rebuild. But, that's about it.
There are many '03 variations, & every one has unique parts. For you to find every part you need, in the exact style, finish, & unused, is beyond the realm of possibility.

I've bought quite a few parts from SARCO over the past few years. I can't speak for the rebuild kits, but everything I received from them , both physically visiting & picking the items up & by mail have been exactly as stated.
I highly recommend them!!!

No tough love needed. This is not a restoration. It is an unsporterization.
This rifle is for a friend that wouldn't know a USGI part if it jumped up and bit him. It will get a new CMP C stock, and a new barrel if I can find one.
I'm just confused as to what this kit is claiming to include. If anybody has gotten one, tell me what you got.

Why don't you call them and ask for a complete description. Everything here is strickly second hand!!

I would personally rather restore part by part on my own. But that's just me.
