my new rifle...what model is it ?
Hi, last week I inherit of 303 british but I don't know which model it is. On the barrel, it is written : Parker Hale , followed, 303'' 2.222''. on the top of cross, the sign PA for Parker Hale I believe and on the clamp beside of safety, ''B'' and ''1942'' and ''8869'' is written. Now, I would like to know which model it is and if a scope can be install on this.
thanks

j-p: It's a sporterized No. 4 Mk II. Started life as a 1942 No. 4 Mk I and, based on serial, I would guess it's a BSA- someone with more expertise may confirm. At some point post war it was upgraded to MkII which involved modification to the action body to allow the trigger to be hung on the body as opposed to the triggerguard. You can easily obtain a non-gunsmith scope mount for it.

It looks like a Parker Hale Deluxe sporting rifle.

Hope I'm not being pedantic but I think that Ridolpho really means that it was converted to a Mk1/2 as opposed to a Mk2

These guns saw lots of sales through Sears, Eaton's, Marshall Wells and Canadian Tire way back in time. The market was absolutely flooded with them and most of us have had a few through time. Not unusual at all...there were three grades of them. This one looks like the top model.

j-p: I've never used one so I can't help but try a search of the forum with something like "No. 4 no gunsmith scope mount" and you'll find out quite bit. There appear to be several options.
