S code Colt barrel
I found a blued S code Colt barrel in my Remington Rand (I assume it does not belong there). The only other markings are Colt 45 Auto on the side and a P on the side of the lug. So is this a military barrel or commercial?

Possibly a commercial barrel transferred to the military contract. Colt transferred quite a few commercial parts such as magazines and barrels to the military contract as well as almost 6600 Government Model pistols.

The barrel is the only thing out of place I was able to find in my RR, It appears to be a nice low mileage original, should. I swap the barrel out for a HS? The Colt matches well and looks like it has been in there for eternity

The barrel did not come in the pistol, so it would just boil down to whether longevity was preferable over correct. Another reason wear patterns don't always tell the full story. If a barrel was changed out early in the pistols career, it will have the wear patterns of the replacement barrel.
