    1940 Colt Government Model C200085

This Swartz safety Colt GM is the pistol featured on pp. 58-59 in Clawson's Colt .45 Government Models 2nd Edition. It was being built about now...in 1940.

    Hi Scott,

A great pistol! I will look closer at this one on your site when time permits

It's nice to see new photos of the pistols out of Charles Clawsons collection. I'm very envious you had the opportunity to acquire such great items, thanks for sharing with us.

    -Steve

IIRC there was a batch in the early C200,000 range that went to the Argentineicon Navy. Had one for a while but it had been refinished. So it eventually went away.

I think this is one of the pistols you are referring to. A lot of folks don't realize that nearly 45% of all the prewar Government Model Colts were sold outside the United Statesicon. another pistol I purchased from Mr. Clawson.
