Got my first one at the same time. Still have it, although it was not mine for about 8 months recently. They've never been "just another gun" to me!
There was a small lot of spare barrels for sale at about the same time, but they had dissappeared by the time we called about getting some "just in case". Can't remember if Navy Arms or Numrich had those.

At the time it "was just another gun" because i was in love with FAL. I was building, shooting, chasing parts, tools, accessories and learning how to do it all. The L42A1 was complete in it's own case, needing nothing except preservation, which I have done after it passed my trials. My Longbranch no4T was more fun. I love the chase. killing is too short.
