Correct rear sight and barrel band for IBM carbine?
I've got an IBM, Ser. # 3881xxx I'm trying to restore. It's an arsenal rebuild with an IRCO stamped adjustable sight. I know that those were used close to that serial number, could it be correct for mine? (I'm tired of looking for a legit flip sight). Also, what type of barrel band, 1 or 2?

Type 1A barrel band and type 1 flip sight would be correct for your IBM. Yours dates to about Feb.1944.

Bruce: I am under the impression
that IBM never used the type 2 band. Is that the case?
Thank you

They did use the type 2 band marked // . Riesch says it was on carbines from 3900000 on up.

Dave,
WB page 477 states "type B unmarked or // mixed use Feb 1944, exclusively from March 1944 until end of production"

Thanks Jim
Too lazy to open a book three feet away. I guess I just have never seen an IBM w/type 2. But then type 2s are not seen much anyway.
Thanks

My book was in arms reach. I keep it in the stand my laptop is on by the couch. Otherwise I might not have walked upstairs where I used to keep it to check.
But you got my curiosity up. Pulled out my data sheets (also in the same stand) and counted. I only have 5 with a type 2 band. Personally I like the type one with early features best. Then the type three with all late features. To me, the type two is the red headed stepchild. But my cousin likes the type 2 best. To each their own.
