Arrow Vickers Mk1 Machine Gun (Pattern Room Drawing)

Here's a very large pattern room drawing for the the Vickers Mk1 machine gun, which I thought they might be of some interest to members here.

Moderator Edit: These are large PDF files which may take some time to load and display, depending upon how fast your Internet link speed is. If the moving bar at the top of the PDF viewer seems to pause too long, then click the "page refresh" button on your Internet browser that you use to view our site. If after a few times of trying that, the drawing still doesn't load and become visible in the PDF viewer window, then you have an option to download the large original drawing directly to your computer for viewing. To do that, simply go to the click on the small pic of the drawing located below the PDF on-line viewer, which will prompt you to download and save the PDF file as opposed to trying to load and view it on-line.

    Vickers Drawing

This is not from the Pattern Room, it is from the 1931 Small Arms Armourer Drawings. If you enjoy inter war Britishicon weapons it is a must. A boxed set of drawings from swords, bicycle Vickers revolvers etc and an excellent accompanying manual. I sold mine 16 years ago!!

New Zealandicon MG Coy, WW1, and marked on the ammo box of the left gun. The two Vickers are 'Grand Old Ladies of No Man's land'. The 'Devils Paintbrush' was the Germanicon MG 08 Maxim, (not that the nick-name made any difference if you were on the wrong end of either one!).

I have to say that of all the guns we could and regularly did shoot at Warminster - including the big Barratt and Boys, the Thompson and other nostalgic Stens, the gun the always wound my clock up was the Vickers. Even if it was a bit of a chore setting up, arranging the field firing template, clearing up afterwards and cleaning the gun down.......... Yep, the Vickers was the one. ESPECIALLY when we could get a couple of belts loaded with 5 ball and 1 tracer. That's when you really noticed how slow the old lady was.

    Cool

My Lithgowicon Vickers used to run like a sewing machine and never missed a beat. When doing demo shoots for the Army, it was always the gun that the young squaddies queued up behind to have a go!

Peter, I got an invite to Warminster last Saturday, it was good but not as good as the old days It was sad to see a Colt Vickers in .30-06 going for destruction along with a lot of other stuff. A real shame.

When you say “going for destruction”, what exactly does that mean?

I have a Colt Vickers and I am wondering if any of the parts will be sold off. Very few Colts seem to have survived and some of the parts can’t be found.

One other question. On my top-cover it looks like a marking has been ground away. My guess is it was a Britishicon marking of some sort. Did you happen to notice the marking on the one at Warminster?
