Sten Gun Sling
Hi all, does anyone know if slings for the MkII Sten Gun were made before 1943. Although the MkII was introduced in 1941 Iv'e only ever seen slings dated 1943 or later. Are earlier slings very rare or did they just not happen?
Many thanks

Yes; but generally they were the shorter fixed length Mk1 type

Hi, thanks for the info. Would you happen to have a photo of the Mk1 sling?

There's a great little book out about the Sten gun, from Collector Grade in Canada and the full details of the Mk1 sling are included in it plus a few other bits and pieces of general info too

Hi
Pictures of Sten slings Mk1 fixed and Mk2 adjustable type. I can also recommend the purchase of The Sten Machine Carbine book By Peter Laidler from Collector Grade, if you have an interest in Sten guns this is a must have.

I have about a dozen Sten slings of the adjustable type of various makes and dates all by the look of them unissued with the earliest example being dated 1943 which I own.
I was reading your Sten book last night, Peter; the piece about Reginald Shepard's WW1 service I am interested in. When he returned to his regiment in August 1916 until the end of WW1 is it known if he served more or less continuously in france with the B.E.F. apart from leave etc.?
