Would one even try and repair this?....maybe make a 1922 rimfire out of it...Is $50 out of line?

Why on earth would anyone consider buying a low number recevier that has been "swiss cheesed"? That one looks like it would be a good candidate for the "hammer test".

Yea,they got their monies worth out of that one.Ya know a rifle that had that many different sights on it very likely is good since it no doubt has been test fired beyond belief.Still the .22 idea is all i"d do with it.If a reenactor needed a WW1 rifle this would be a good deal at 50 bucks.

50.00 is fair. had Telden mount on the rear, i have all his tooling, and a bunch of unfinished bases in a large wooden box.
Telden died back in the 80,s, i oicked them up from a close buddy of his.
im repairing a NM receiver with more holes then that one has, and its turning out sweet.
50.00 plus what i would charge to repair, restore the lettering and finisk??then its out of line,
i have a few SHT receivers id sell, for less then it would cost to fix that one.

Only 8 holes. Must have broken his drill bit.
Buy it, weld up the rear holes, cut an inch out of it, weld it back together and make a 22 Hornet. Just don't pay $50 for it. Maybe $25 or less.

Holey Receiver!
As a friend of mine would say, "That receiver is more holey than righteous."

funny you should say .22
a dear late friend of mine, used to take the Nat Ord, and Santa Fe receivers i had from donners and make .22, 32HR ect out of them,
the late Max Jones, awesome man, i learned more about common since gunsmithing then any so called master gunsmith.
he taught me to look at the simple, before i used the fancy tooling.
