    Inland Range Report

I shot the Detroit Police Inland just awhile ago at 100 yards. I tried to simulate what it was like in Korea in Winter. Today 25 degrees 6 inches show, wind 15 MPH right to left. Modern CMPicon Aguila ammo. I would not have liked being a enemy soldier that's for sure. Regards, Rick.

Considering the wind, you're GTG! Nice shooting too. I assume rear sight was on 1.5 - 1. If so, your carbine shoots just where it's supposed to. It actually could have been as much as 12" high on the official sighting target and still pass. From what I can see of it, that Inland looks like it just came out of a National Guard armory - excellent find.

The rifle shoots low. I had to set the elevation at 200 and then put the post on top of the bull. Not sure why??? Perhaps others have had a similar experience. Regards, Rick.

I've never shot that ammo, but it seems I've read that it's down around 1800 something FPS - or maybe the front sight needs some taken off of it. Does the front sight look like the original? - could have gotten swapped if the Type 3 band was a later upgrade. Good shootin' - Bob

The front sight is a RIA replacement. I won't be shooting critters around here over 150 yards so I'm not going to fuss with it. I have also heard the Aguila is a weak load. I'll run one through the chronograph and report. I scored a 8 pound keg of Lil' Gun and 1000 rounds of very clean pulled GI 110 gr bullets and will be reloading some real soon. Regards, Rick.

You want to check it in with G.I.-spec ammo of course, but it sounds like the front sight was a new one and never adjusted. After you get some G.I.-type ammo, set your rear sight where it's supposed to be and try again. If still low, the front sight post needs to be lowered. There is a drawing on this but basically the file cut slopes slightly down to the front to present only the sharp rear edge to the eye when sighting. Ideally you would be 2" to 6" high at 100 in order to meet the old spec, but there's nothing stopping you from zeroing at 100 if you wish, which also requires less of a cut on the sight.

    Snow?

I played golf this morning. It was about 72 and bright sunshine, no wind, some high clouds. But you guys wouldn't live here if they paid you, right?

I got to shoot some of the LC 71 last week. It is really nice ammo. the carbines run flawlessly. Seems a bit hotter and the dispersion is a bit wider than my reloads. Still, holds the black on an SR-1 at 100 yds.

The file is preferred to avoid rounding the edges - should be sharp. My guess is your sight blade comes almost to a point. No way to guess how much would have to be removed until you shoot the hotter ammo and get solid measurements, but I think the stone would get old quick trying to cut down the blade as much as it probably will need.

Thanks for the tips. I loaded some shells today using Aguila brass, CCI 400 primers, 15 grains of Lil'Gun and pulled military 110 gr bullets. I didn't have time to shoot as it's cold and very windy.....perhaps tomorrow I can shoot some groups before I do anything with the front sight. Here are the numbers........regards, Rick.
