Stock appears to be beech? Not Germanicon. Nice 7.62mm conversion, nice keeper.

You can google "Post war Czechicon Mausers" and there is an article by Badger of Milsurps which has some good info and pics in it. Can't seem to find it on this site but I'm not much with computers.

They are still CZECH Mausers to me even though the Israelis modified them. Probably made in Brno, Czechoslovakiaicon. The Mauser works there was called BRUNN Mauserwerke by the Nazis during the occupation in WW2. They produced Mausers for the Wehrmacht all through the war as well as at Bysterica, Czechoslovakia. The Brno factory was assigned manufacturers code DOT and late in the war changed to SWP while the Bysterica factory was assigned code DOU. The Czech Mausers were as good as Germanicon made rifles and when the war ended they continued to build Mausers from parts on hand, many German marked. Yours was made after WW2 as it displays the Czech rampant lion on the receiver, many of these crests were ground off for some reason. I don't know who made the barrels the Israelis used on these guns maybe someone who knows a lot more than me will chip in. I think my info is correct and hope it helps.

    Hightlander,

That is a beautiful rifle. I've seen that crest - on the Czechicon Louewenbrau label. They probably put that crest on everything ... stationery, dishes, linen, the garden hose ...

I like the Israeli Mausers, the idea of them: take your worst enemy's weapon away from him and use it to save your own life, your own people.

I know at least some of the 7.62mm barrels used were made by FN. No idea who to tell them apart. Some of these rifles have the Czechicon Lion, some have Germanicon WWII markings and some have been ground smooth. These 7.62mm Mausers are the collector's delight.
