Adjusting sleeve for 1897 takedown
So I was looking online and I see the adjusting sleeves for 1897 takedowns listed by number and as regular??? is there a difference that I should be aware of when ordering? Thank You All.

Yes there are difference that have to do with the thread timing so the 2 halves lock up properly.
There are adjustment notches on the sleeve, 36 IIRC, those are the "regular" sleeves. Then there are additional sleeves lettered A, B or C that have extra notches to compensate for wear in the mating surfaces of the 2 halves from repeated take downs and lack of lubrication that the regular sleeve wont make up for.
The numbered sleeves you are seeing are for the model 12. They go from "1" to "6". I have been told the sleeves are interchangeable between the model 97 and model 12 but have never tried it to see.

Thank You for the great information Vintage hunter. I am new to the 1897 and will probably have lots of questions. MY FATHER ALWAYS SAID THE ONLY STUPID QUESTION IS THE ONE YOU THOUGHT ABOUT BUT DIDN`T ASK.
