Great WWII binoculars
My dad has a pair of what I think I remember are Navy M17 7x15 binoculars with an m44 case that he bought surplus back in the day. I think I remember that they are Bausch and Lomb built. A while back I arranged to have them rebuilt for him at a local bench that did optical work for the Navy. Those glasses are the whitest, clearest glasses I've EVER used - just a stunning pair of binocs. I've considered picking up a pair for myself but notice on eBay that there are lots of different marks from the period and lots of different manufacturers as well.
I'd be extremely happy ending up with a pair as nice as his. Do I need to stick to m17s or are there other marks and makers that are as excellent as these?

Yep......... the same as those ex Army Kershaw No5 (and No5) binoculars available in the UK. The clarity is the difference between real GLASS optics and plasticised 'glass' optics. You get what you pay for as they say
