Cruffler
I have a few "old guns" among which is an Enfield No1 MkIII and am interested in locating some sort of history on it. The Ser.# is 2409654-P1635...with the assortment of numbers on it, none of which match...I think it was assembled from parts of others. Has a lot of usage, from being dragged around battlefields, I suppose. Barrel is very good and action also. It shoots about 1/2" low at 100yds.
Any help with this old dude would be most appreciated. Also under the bolt handle is says Enfield 1917 SMLE III*.

Glad to find this site. I've always had a few old Garands, but recently started getting interested in WWII mausers and other milsurp guns. Only problem is coming to the party late it costs more. I read about barrels of old milsurp guns for $35 each and I want to cry.... Finding even old RC mausers for less than $250 is now a challenge. Anyway, I look forward to participating in discussions and enjoying the knowledge displayed on this board. Casus

New member but have lurked a while. Not a serious collector but am interested in O3s and M1s. I have learned quite a lot in my lurking and I appreciate the collective knowledge this forum provides.

Bobwal - Martially Marked Colt 1851 Navy Manufactured 1856
I have been collecting Antique Firearms for over 15 years, most in my collection being Civil War era Colt pistols. I was made aware of this site by member drm2m's post of a "Model 1851 Colt Navy - manufactured 1857 with U. S. Government [Army] markings' I recently purchased a similar Colt Navy and would be interested the the view of any informed member as to the rarity and current value of this acquisition. It is a third model with a brass strap, serial number 46000, and is a government owned model, as it has a 'star' stamping on the face of the cylinder [See '51 Colt Navies' by Swayze, page 83, plate 44]. It also has over 90 percent of its original military dull blue finish remaining, mixed with some traces of brown, and the brass backstrap and triggerguard appear never to have been silver plated. Apart from the all matching serial numbers, the markings are faint. The overall condition is not pristine but is consistent with significant military use, with the butt used as a hammer. Many thanks. Bob

New Member from North Carolina checking in.
Fairly active over on ar15.com, but I'm falling back into C&Rs (especially Enfields).
