I came into the possession of a Marine Raiders knife over the week-end and wanted to find out what it might be worth. It's a reproduction or commerative type 2,V44, or whats known as a gung ho servival knife. It has no manufacturers name on it, but has a banner etched on one side of the blade that has United States Marine Raiders printed with the patch in the middle of the words. The patch has the skull in a dimond with the 5 stars around it. On the same side of the blade, at the cross guard, is stamped U.S.iconM.C. The cross guard is made of brass and the handle is made of black plastic or horn.?? Has 3 brass rivets the length of the handle, but no rivet at butt. It does have a hole drilled at the butt with a leather strap. The sheath is dark brown with the front tooled with what looks like ivy vine leaves around the entire front. At the top, under a short row of leaves is a square with the words United States Marine Raiders at top and bottow, with the skull and stars in the middle. I did a small favor for a guy and he gave me this knife. If it turns out this knife is worth more than he thought it was, I want to give it back, or pay him something for it. TIA for any help you can give me. Bob.
