Now, I know this is just a tease, enfield carbine #003

    but I thought you'd like a look.
Enfield carbine serial number 3 on auction..
Sorry, trademe is closed to bidders except NZicon and aus, and items like this now fall under cultural heritage and probably won't get an export permit these days. (Actually the cultural heritage applies to all guns over 50 years old.)

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. Mr303,

Perhaps you could elaborate on what you see?

    Thanks

Well for a start it has a Canadianicon butt on it, which is for a rifle not a carbine.

The lower forewood is a thinned down smle one, which explains why it has the sight protector cutouts visible in picture 7 (look at the trigger guard area to see how much it has been thinned)! The magazine is not the correct type, it should not have the catch on the side. And of coarse the obvious one is that the barrel and bolt are not numbered '3' as the receiver is. The NZicon stamp is only on the barrel which is not typical on NZ rifles (they are normally stamped NZ on receiver and barrel. The fore sight looks really bad and home made.
