I know that there were a number of different spotting scopes in the No 4 T box.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. They did appear in some boxes. There were a few variations of the old Telescope Signallers and Telescope, GS and another, the Telescope, Admiralty Pattern. but I never saw anything but the Sct Reg come with an L42 because by that time, they'd sorted the wheat from the chaff and standardised things.

For the No4T, the CES came as a numbered rifle and scope but the spotting scope wasn't identified beyond its title so, depending on the quartermaster, if it came with or was returned with a spotting telescope of any description, then that sufficed. And that's the reason why a 'spare' Scout Reg telescope was an important part of an Armourers tool box. Call it a sort of valuable currency.....................

The Tele Signalling or signallers is still(?) in the system although the last I ever saw were in the watchtowers in the bandit Country of NI.

Incidentally, is there any demand for OG lens sets for Scout Regiment Telescopes?

    Interesting.
The reason I am asking is that I have found one for sale.
As yet no price other than what is it worth to me.
I have been told 50 to 200 quid.
    What is a good price?
and can it be used for parts for other scopes?

The dealer also has a No 55 mk1 OS 1074 GA scope for sale.
    also no price as yet.
How does the 55 differ from the 42 / 53?
    eye relief?
and can it be used for parts for the 32?
and is its about the same value of the 42/53 scopes?

    David
