Old post and I am well behind. I did love reading about “ Ronnie” from all perspectives.

Funny the subtle sexual nature of the images ( in badgers original post) the propaganda department put together. The first, leaning over the mill obviously displays a provocative view of a shapely women, without going into the “ bombshell” arena ( like pin-up girls). She is still in overalls after all. 😜

And the pictures with her relaxing next to the Bren gun smoking a cigarette are a bit like a “ after the moment” scene, enjoying a smoke.

Those were the early days when advertising was realizing sex sells. Veronica (a sexy name in itself!) thankfully used her charms to bolster the war effort and I am thankful for that.

I was one of the organizers of the Long Branch "Doors Open" events where "Ronnie " was recognized.
It was great to meet the family and honour her memory.
There was apparently quite a difference between Inglis and Long Branch from a social perspective.
They both had social events but Inglis was a private company and their events were apparently more..."Outgoing"!
Long Branch however was a Crown Corporation run by Colonel Jolley and the "official" social events were more "subdued"!
This perception apparently let to a lot of back and forth banter between the two teams.
My Grandfather was the night superintendent at Long Branch later in the war, and earlier a supervisor of inspectors.
    Cheers Paul

Ok, Bren Gun experts. What type of Bren is "Ronnie" holding?? A Double Dove Tail. Inglis, should be as it's in their plant. As the photo was taken May 1941, going to guess it was a Inglis 1940 or 1941 dated Bren. It has Lighting cuts on the top front of the receiver.
As I can't make out the markings, what do you think that the marking should be? Mk1 or Mk1. or Mk1m or ??
Any other things that you experts can share about that Bren??

    Later 42rocker
