    Speed-Lee markings

I haven't figured out how to post pics yet, but I have some odd markings on an old Lee-Speed i own. First off is a crown with a cross on the top, it is more primitive looking in design than European looking. directly underneath is like a cursive "go" more or less the "o" is connected over to the g like a cursive o and the "g" looks just like that. One the Buttplate, there is a narrow flag or banner marking, then UV ***** (5 dots) below said banner. Thanks in advance.

I think what you're seeing is the "C over P" proof mark with crown above?

Well, I find those markings fascinating and have spent the last hour trying to identify the language without success.

Is there any chance you could write out the symbols, photograph them and post them as they are difficult to read in the current photo?

The crown suggests a country with a King, the crudeness of the crown is interesting and may be a clue to its origin. The bottom symbol almost looks like hieroglyphics

I checked all my Enfield references and couldn't find this proof marking ...

I did have a PDF file showing markings by various countries, but it's also not something I could relate back to your pic.

    Here's the PDF file ...

Heres a pic of the wierd ones on top of the receiver, the small marks with Crowns over them are: BV BP and NP. UV on the buttplate and BSA on her but the top one is the give away to where she went i think. here to hoping the link works lol

Can you please post some more details on this rifle and its other markings? Is it a sporter or service pattern configuration?

I'm studying the Lee Speed variations and would love to learn more about this one. Maybe we can figure out where it's been and whether it has any stories to tell.

    Thanks!

Could this be Nepal, Bhutan or Tibet? Not with a cross on top of the crown, to answer my own question(?)
