Seems that a large portion of combloc milsurp firearms have "dark" bores. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. By insisting on a shiney bore, all you may end up doing is shortening the life of your firearm.

What Has Always Worked for Me:
1) Saturate patch with Hoppe's #9 from *glass* bottle. Dripping wet.
2) Swab patch through bore a good bit.
3) Stand arm in question MUZZLE DOWN on a paper towel on the corner of your gun room.
4) Come back in 24 hours. If the paper towel has green (copper), blue (cupronickel) or black (fouling) deposits where the solvent ran down, run 1-3 clean patches through and repeat from 1) as many times as necessary til the paper towel no longer shows coloration. If the paper towel is just 'wet', proceed.
5) Run several dry patches through bore.
6) Enjoy.
