++++ In Memoriam ++++
As time moves forward, we inevitably experience the passing of members of our own community here, as well people we've come to know within the wider sphere of other Internet forums, gun shows and research authors. We thought it would be fitting if we set up a permanent In Memoriam discussion thread here in the off-topic forums, so that our members have a common place to check for updates, gather and express their condolences.
Please feel free to reply to this thread with expressions of sympathy and perhaps for those of you who knew these friends and colleagues well, post anecdotal stories about the good times and what they meant to you in the context of this collecting hobby we all love to share with each other.
If anyone knows of members who have passed, or anyone else within our wider circle of friends whom our membership should be aware of, please forward the relevant information to me via email, so I can add their names to this In Memoriam list.
On behalf of all of our membership, I would like to express our deepest sympathies to family, friends and colleagues of these fine people.
Regards,
Doug (Badger)

the military collecting fraternity lost a brother and well known WW2 dealer in January ,
Frederick E. Franz Jr., 38, died Jan. 7, 2011, at his home.
Fred { most people knew him as " little fritz " or " fritzy" } he was a familiar face at all the chicago land militaria / gun shows , many people out there would instantly recognize his father " big fritz' ,... a mainstay at all the Midwestern gun shows ,
if you ever purchased a metal USGI ammo can , it was probably bought it from Freds dad , big fritz ,
Fred jr divided his time , alternating from southern California and northern Illinois , he was known by thousands of people from the big California swap meets to wolfs flea market in chicago & the SHOW OF SHOWS in Louisville Kentucky ,
fred had a keen eye for spotting rare and unusual world war two military artifacts and always sold them at a fair price --- Freddy ,....you will be missed .

Doug, Not sure if this "Memorial" is for those that recently passed or also would include those that passed some time ago. If you wish to include those who have passed a while ago a person to include would be LTC. Michael V. Stratton. Mike was, I believe, another Charter member of the GCA.

Email me the appropriate information to badger@milsurps.com and I will add him to our remembrance role...
