    Recoil Plate SCREW And ESCUTCHEON

I have a escutcheon with messed up and/or dirty threads. Before I spin it loose in the stock with the screw stuck in it what size tap and die are need to chase the threads on the Recoil Plate Screw and Escutcheon Nut?

One the folks at Home Depot never heard of. It's .200-40 NS thread. Probably cheaper to replace the screw and nut.

Herc: what not take it out of the stock and see if it will clean up? I've had some really hard to screw the bolt into but usually some oil/cleaner on the threads softened the crud. If that hasn't worked for your, use a rod, or in worst case the bolt, to tap out the escutcheon so you can get at it to clean/inspect. I've used the bolts before when they would just start threading to tap it out with no damage to the bolt.

If you need a "pair".....bolt & escutcheon i have an extra. Dont know what they go for, but not expensive.

    Let us know what happens.
