There must be several makers (Rem; Winchester; Stevens; Mossberg; Kimber and others) and dozens of models. See US Martial .22RF Rifles by Thomas Batha

If you're into the U.S. .22 trainers, Batha's book is a "must have". Although it has errors, it has a lot of great information. U.S. .22 trainers I own include Remington Models 513T and 40X, Harrington and Richardson M65, Mossberg 44US, Kimber 82G, and Steven 416. I also own an Army M261 and Air Force .22lr conversion kit for the M-16 rifles. Batha's book only covers rifles, but the U.S. military has also used several .22 handgun trainers - High Standard and Ruger come to mind.
