Redfield "double dovetail" M1903 front sight base

I recently glommed one of these at an on-line sale. It appears that it will allow me to mount a Redfield Olympic/International front globe sight to an M1903 rifle

I haven't mounted it yet, but will post some pics if it fits my M1903 target rifle

    target front sight

Some years ago I installed a Redfield Olympic on a base attached to a ground down M1icon rifle gas cylinder. I used this arrangement for shooting metal plates at 200yards - I really enjoyed this set-upAttachment 22801Attachment 22802Attachment 22803

I used the aperture front sight insert and with the normal M1icon rear sight aperture, it was perfect for off-hand steel plates
