1942 Remington 1903
Recently aquired a 1942 Remington 1903. Most parts are Rem. but it has a stamped Trigger guard and lower band and swivel. All appears to be arsenal new condition, however it is a rebuild. Stock has the OG rebuild stamp on it. I was undicided weather to purchase it as it has a 6-44 dated O3A3 barrel on it. Years ago I had an 03 with a A3 barrel and whoever assambled it cut the bottom of the rear site base to fit it onto the A3 bbl. After some discussion with the owner we agreed on a price that I couldn"t turn down. Worth more in parts. When I got it home and took the stock off, I found the rear of the A3 bbl. was turned down for the O3 rear site base and properly pinned in place. I have never seen this on a true arsenal rebuild. Any thoughts or comments? Thanks.

Not an arsenal rebuild. Likely a competent 'smith.
It would be interesting to know if the fixed rear sight base (FRSB) spline was properly done. You would have to remove the barrel to find out.
