[B]I recently acquired a Eddystone bolt that has a very small screw approximately 1/4 inch from the bolt face. The screw is approximately the same size as that used to secure the front sight base on a M1903 rifle. When the bolt is closed it is covered by the extractor. I have reviewed both Ferris' "United Statesicon Rifle Model of 1917" and Stratton's "Pattern 1914 and U.S. Model of 1917" and can find no mention of this screw in either. The Eddystone bolt in my M1917 does not have this screw. Unfortunately, I do not have the means to post a photo.

Any information will be appreciated.

Thanks.
