Are these 30 round carbine mags legit?

    Greetings everyone,

After reading the CMPicon article on them, visiting the James Wesley website and reading a thread on this website, there is a LOT to keep straight regarding 30 round carbine mags. I have an opportunity to buy some but they are expensive and I'm concerned they are junk. I have a Korean 30rd mag that isn't the smoothest but seems to work OK and a ProMag that I really like. That said, I wouldn't mind having a couple of the real McCoys.

Based upon what I've read, the marking being deep and clear is suspect as well as the bolster being square. I'm hoping the folks on this forum can take a look at the pictures and tell me what they think.

    Thanks,
    Jeff

BTW...I've asked for a picture of the front seam and I was told that the followers hold open after the last round. I've also been told that there is no rust on the mags.

    Hey Jeff,

Are you wondering if they are USGI WWII?

    Or if they work ok?

    Hi Charlie!

I hope you are doing well! All of the above. Looking around it's hard to get a clear picture on what the story actually is; the Milsurps forums always seems to know what is wheat and what is chaff. The seller wants $60 each (a little less if buying several) and that seems a little steep to me. Are they worth that much? I don't *have* to have 30rd magazines.

Since they cost around 25-30 euros over here, that seems a lot of money to be paying on your side. Or is it the general "buy 30-round magazines before they are banned" panic setting in?

I don't think those are Tony's magazines. Notice how rounded the back of the magazine is around the M2. I had one of his, and the back was flat and corners crisp like USGI, The rounded back is a good indication of junk.
